Re: Computer crashed, need help/Ludwig and Louise (SCHAUER/SHOWER) KLAWITTER
I think we most probably are cousins. I just discovered my Klawitter line today at the Historical Library in Lansing Michigan. My maternal great grandmother was Emma C Klawitter, daughter of Herman and Wihelmena who emigrated to New York City from Prussia via Bremen and Southampton aboard the steamship Elbe. My great grandmother Emma C married Andreas A Nering in New York around 1895 and their second daughter Eleanor Amelia born in 1899 was my maternal grandmother. I have a picture of Emma holding me at age 18 months and I am almost as long as she was tall. She died in 1972 in California where she was living with a granddaughter. My Klawitter-Nering-Schubert line stayed in the greater New York area until my parents got married in 1946. My father was career Navy; and basically left the New York area to follow his career. Hopefully all of this rings true to you and that we are in fact related...I always love meeting new cousins!!! Don't know how much help I can be but
am willing to assist anyway I can. My mom had the name spelled wrong..she has it spelled KLAVITTER which explains why I could never find anything. Hope to hear from you soon.
