5. Rosa K. (b.1879) m. Lawrence Galloway.(300G)
FRITZ KLEINEICK was a German immigrant that came to America around 1863/68 (315/317).Fritz was christened on 3/17/1844 at Evangelisch, Haan Duessedorf, Rheinhand, Pressen. (Per german family search.)He married AMANDA ELIZABETH LOMAN.AMANDA was from Kentucky where she was a school teacher. She may have been one who taught FRITZ English. Also the Lomans owned land next to land that FRITZ purchased in Rockcastle County, Kentucky.FRITZ and AMANDA were married in May of 1870, per the 9/26/1870 census of Rockcastle County, KY.Their children were all born in KY. except for William and he was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1871.The birth of one son in Indiana lacks a reason as to why they were that far away from their home in KY.
GERMANS TO AMERICA, 11/1865-9/1871, by Ira A. Flazier, Publisher Wm. Filby:
Kleineick, Fredrich, a28, on 8/17/1863 came from Breman, Germany, to New York on the ship Atlanta, HDO IL.from the Province of Hesse Darmstadt.[D-Note:writer feels that it is highly possible that this is the FRITZ KLEINEICK of the family listed above. (300)]
300A.Rockcastle County, KY. 1880 census:
Kleineick, Fred, age 40. (b.c.1840) from Germany.Wife, Amanda, age 40. (b.1840)
1. William, age 10.2. Fritz, age 8.3. Ferber, age 6.4. Rama (Remania), age 3.5. Vocena, age 1.
The census shows that FRITZ was 40 years old making his birth year of 1840.There might be some question about that.Donald Kleineick’s Aunt Ruble Kleineick said that he was born in 1827.It was her recollection that FRITZ was born or lived in Solingen, Germany, prior to coming to America.Aunt Ruble is deceased. The dau. in the census, Vocena, age 1 was not immediately identified, but conclusion is that she is Rosina and that probably with FRITZ’S German accent in pronouncing the name mislead the census takers and they misspelled the name which was very typical.Plus the age and possibly birth year fit.Even though that it was believed that AMANDA raised another child of unknown name. There does exist a picture of FRITZ AND AMANDA and four girls and two boys which may be sort of proof that there was another child other than the ones that the census listed.A family story has immerged (in 1999) that AMANDA’S first child did not belong to FRITZ.
300B.FRITZ AND AMANDA LAND RECORDS:
In the records of the Rockcastle County, KY., Courthouse at Mount Vernon, there are four recorded land deeds with FRITZ KLEINEICK’S name as purchaser:
1. On 7/24/1879, FREDERICK KLINIGHT (spelling exactly as recorded):He bought the land from Thomas Lunsford. This land was near land owned by James Loman, who might have been Amanda’s brother or uncle.(#136 in land Deed Book.)2. On 7/29/1879, FREDERICK KLINIGHT bought land from Paulina Chasteen.#170 in Deed Book.3. On 7/12/1882, FRED KLINICK (spelling as recorded) bought land from Moran Loman, his father-in-law.#635 in Deed Book.4. On 3/27/1883, FRED KLINICK bought land from John Miller heirs.(#634 in Deed Book.)Note:There are no records that this purchased land was ever sold by FRITZ or any family member.
300C.FRITZ AND OTHER STORIES:FRITZ KLEINEICK spent seven years in the Prussian Calvary prior to coming to America. He was supposed to be covered with scars from the waist down, probably as a result of wounds received in a war.History tells that the Prussian Army was an active army engaged in battles continuously for many years. Some called it a hundred year war that Prussia was engaged in.So FRITZ probably had his fill of fighting. Also he attended college in Germany either prior to his military service or afterwards. He came to America using his father’s passport. He said that he sent it back to his father afterwards. It is thought that he and his father had the same full name of Friedrich Wilhelm Kleineick. This name, Freidrich Wilhelm, was apparently from the Royalty of the Prussian Empire even though there is no known
