Transfer Y-DNA Data Before It’s Too Late!
On Thursday, Ancestry.com™ announced that they will no longer sell Y-DNA and mtDNA tests.Additionally, the results from past Y-DNA and mtDNA tests will no longer be available after September 5, 2014. There are no guarantees on what the future holds for Ancestry.com's™ autosomal DNA offering so I would strongly advice anyone who tested with Ancestry.com™ to transfer their Y-DNA and Autosomal DNA to a DNA service whose main focus is genetic genealogy, for instance Family Tree DNA.
Please encourage anyone who has tested with Ancestry.com™ to transfer their record to a genetic genealogy provider of their choice as soon as possible.I'm not familiar with the other companies but I may be able to help with any questions as to how FTDNA does their transfers if anyone is interested.
