Hi Patricia,

I have just started untangling the Knecht connection in our family
tree this winter and spring. My husband is the 3 Greatgrandson of
Salome Knecht, 1803-1825, daughter of Leonard and Christine. And a descendent ofGeorg Peter, above.Salome married George Kunkle and died at the age of 22 and 1/2 , three weeks after the birth of her third child, Charles, who was Ron's Great, great
grandfather.
Genealogy has been a hobby of mine for over 30 years and one of the first trees I climbed was the Illick family of my mother's grandmother.I successfully got back to Rudolph Illick and his wife Maria Magdalena.
Over the years I have uncovered bits and pieces for her last name, (Knedt, Knecht). And now I have discovered a possible link between my family and that of my husband Ron's.How exciting!
Some of my research has included-

1."The KNECHT Family History, 1702-1987," by Linda KLOSEK . Easton
Library.Searched on April 25, 2000.
2. "Hartzell Family History, Hartzell Chapter", Paul R. Swan,
6/22/1998.Published on the internet at
http://home.att.net/~paulrswan/Family_History/Hartzell.htmlhttp://home.att.net/~paulrswan/Family_History/Hartzell.html.A copy
printed out and in my files Feb. 28, 2000.
3. Salem Reformed Church. Moore Twp. Northampton Co. PA 1774 -
1840.Bethlehem Library, PA.
4. GloriaC. Hartzell,"Genealogical History of John Francis Huber
from Bucks, Co., PAand his Descendants" which is available in the
Historical and genealogical department of the Easton, PAlibrary.

As well as the many resources available at the Easton library and personal family research documentation.

As I was piecingthings together, I began to wonder if my Maria Magdalena (Knedt, Knecht) Illick wasof the same line as my husband's Salome Knecht.I think from your information that she may be.

Here is the line of descent that I have for my Knecht's.

1.Peter Knecht& Anna Hirtzel, b.29 May 1654
2.Peter Knecht& Anna Barbara (Knecht)
3.George Peter Knecht (C.1702 - 27 Mar 1773)& Anna Christine Hirtzel (20 Dec 1705 - )
4.Hans Leonard Knecht (18 Jan 1737 - 18 Oct 1789) & Margaret Schlauch (9 May 1739 - 20 Apr 1810)
5.Leonard Knecht (8 Apr 1774 - 30 May 1836) & Christina Schott (3 Jan 1767 - 28 Dec 1833)
6.Salome Knecht (28 May 1803 - 16 Dec 1825) & George Kunkle (10 Feb 1797 - 19 Jan 1876)
7.Charles Kunkle (24 Nov 1825 - 22 Apr 1890) & Emeline Miller (16 May 1828 - 19 May 1883)
8. John Henry Kunkle (4 Mar 1856 - 21 Apr 1932) & Sarah Jane Fehnel (14 Nov 1856 - 1 Mar 1928)

There are missing dates hereand of course, I have nothing for Maria Magdalena. If you
can help me fill in the missing information I would be so greatful.

Thank you,
Cynthia Smith
