Obituary of John G. Steltzer
The following was published in the Lewistown, Sentinel (Mifflin Co., Pa.) on Jan. 11, 1939 pg. 3
John G. Steltzer, life-long resident of Granville, died at 4:45 Tuesday afternoon in Lewistown Hospital. Death was due to a stroke. He was the son of George and Catherine (Hummelsbaugh) Steltzer and was aged 77 years 7 months 16 days. He was the last of his family. His parents at an early age came from their home in Germany to settle here.
The surviving family includes his wife, the former Sina Knepp; one son, George L. Steltzer of Harrisburg, a daughter, Mrs. Allen (Carrie) VanScyoc of Granville, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. For the past 55 years he had resided in the home built in the district now known as Fairview. He was employed as signal maintenance man on the P.R.R. He was a member of Van Dyke P.O.S. of A. and a member of Granville Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at his residence Friday afternoon at 2:30 in charge of his pastor, Rev. N.J. Simmons, assisted by the Rev. Brubaker, formerly of Granville Brethren in Christ Church. Interment will be in St. Mark's Cemetery.
Friends may call at the home after 10 o'clock Thursday morning.

John Steltzer's Funeral
Funeral services for John G. Steltzer were conducted at his late home, Granville, Friday afternoon, 2:30 o'clock, by his pastor, Rev. N.J. Simmons. The minister based his gospel message on John 14:1-2, "Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you." Rev. Allen Brubaker of Brethren in Christ Church, read a requested hymn, "God Be with You Until We Meet Again."
Burial was made in St. Mark's Cemetery. Casket carriers were: Robert Mayes, Thurman Crosson, Merle Snook, Warren Snook, Archie Cobert and Brady Bender.
Among the many relatives and friends at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Charles Steltzer, Frank Mumper, Dally Steltzer and Mr. and Mrs. George Steltzer and family, Harrisburg; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Knepp and Charles Knepp, Mapleton; Mrs. Margaret Gogon, Columbia; Mrs. Becky Weaver, Mill Creek; Mr. and Mrs. Levi Adams, Mr. and Mrs. George Adams and Mrs. Elsie Emery, Altoona.
