Robert L. Knifley
QUINCY - Robert L. Knifley, 100, of Quincy, formerly of Franklin, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006, at Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.
He was born Jan. 9, 1906, in Knifley, Ky., the son of Virgil and Betty Absher Knifley. He married Celia Kathryn Duncheon in 1944; she died in 1957. He married Dollie Donovan in 1964; she died in 1973.
Mr. Knifley was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He owned and operated Robert Knifley Trucking and contracted through the state of Illinois, selling hay and straw to horse tracks in East St. Louis. He was a member of AMVETS and the American Legion.
Survivors: two stepsons, E.A. Donovan of Quarryville, Pa., and Ted J. (wife, Charlene) Donovan of Jacksonville; two stepdaughters, Dolores Edwards of Ashland and Beverly Meadows of Jacksonville; and sister, Marie of Athens.
Graveside services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Calvary Cemetery, Jacksonville.
Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of arrangements.
