Dear Mrs Mc Garr,

Thank you for your reply to my latest posting.

I find your information interesting but I continue to believe that two pieces of evidence, cited in my previous posting, confirm my belief that Charner Hopson Knight was born in 1810, and that he did not have a child named Abner.

As to his birth date, I believe that the inscription on his tombstone, placed there by his descendants is the best source for his birth year. I believe that it is much more relible than conclusions derived from Nancy's birth year. Even if here birth year was off by as much as five years, it does not preclude her being Charner's mother. Although I have accepted the 1760 date I adopted it from another genaeology(hope I spelled that right) and do not have any independent evidence to supportit. Just as you accept another's research, so do I.

As to Abner's being a son of Charner Hopson Knight, I feel that that the first hand knowledge of several of his children, as shown in the "Toadvine" list, is far more reliable than any other evidence that I am aware of. Even today, eye witness testimony is considered the most reliable.

Truth, like beauty, is truly in the eye of the beholder and I gues that you and I will have to agree to disagree.

I am a poor, two fingered typist, but I will try to do a better job of proofreadingto avoid the dreaded "sic"

Tom
