Debra,
Sarah Ann Knighton; b. April 1830 Gadsden Co, Florida; d. Newton Co, Ms; married Stanton Young Harris probably abt. 1854 maybe Choctaw Co, Ala (I would have to double-check but it seems they lost some county records before a certain time). On the 1860 Ala census - Choctaw Co, the oldest child,
Octavius was 5 yrs old.
Sarah A. Knighton was the dau. of Thomas Knighton and Jane Cason, who moved with family from Fairfield Co, SC to Gadsden Co, Fla prior to 1830 and then later to Randolph Co, Georgia before 1840.You will find many Knightons on the 1850 Randolph Co, Ga. census. Some of the families moved after 1850.Thomas and his family moved on to Choctaw Co, Ala where Thomas and Jane Knighton died.
Thomas Knighton is the son of Thomas Knighton and Jane Freeman (supposedly).
Jane Cason is the dau of Cannon Cason.
I don't have anything to help you with Stanton Young Harris and his parents. You may have to search the Harris family listings on the 1850 Alabama census and Georgia census.I only have that he was born in Georgia.
If you haven't already, you might want to check Gene Allford's website for the lineage and data of the Knighton families. It will help you with the Knightons. You might want to check Randolph Co, Ga and surrounding counties such as Stewart co, Georgia too.
I hope this has helped.Sarah Ann Knighton is the sister of my ancestor, Thomas Cannon Knighton.
Good luck!
Regards,Barbara
