Fred Knipstein- Allen Co, IN
I have located three pockets of Knipsteins in the U.S.One group lived in Morgan Co., Indiana.Another lived in Fayette and Lee Counties in Texas. The third group which I am most interested in researching settled in Allen Co, Indiana. These groups of U.S. Knipsteins seem to have their origin in an area of Westphalia Germany that includes the Evangelical Lutheran parishes of Levern and of Fabbenstedt. The Knipsteins whose events were registed in the church in Levern lived in the small village of Sundern.
Fred Knipstein was born in Sundern, Westphalia, Germany on 30 July 1850.He came to the U.S. in the early 1870s.He lived at first in Ohio.He probably married there (maybe in the area of Cincinnati) and had his first child there. He then moved to Allen County, Indiana. His wife was Louisa Glusenkamp who was born on 23 Sept. 1847 in Dielingen, Westphalia, Germany.Dielingen is just north of Levern.Fred and Louisa had 8 children.
Fred Knipstein's father was Christian F W Knipstein who was born in Sundern in 1826.Christian's father Johan Heinrich Fredrick was born Tiemann in 1801 in Twiehausen but took the Knipstein surname when he married Anna Maria C L Knipstein in 1823 in Levern.Johan Heinrich's father was born Friedrich Wilhelm Gieske in 1775 in Fabbenstedt but took the surname Tiemann when he married Anne Marie D Tiemann in 1800 in Levern.Friedrich Wilhelm's father was Johan H Giesekers who was born in 1740 in Fabbenstedt.Johan's father was Johan Giesekers of Fabbenstedt.
I would like to talk with anyone who is interested in the ancestors or descendants of Fred Knipstein.
