Hi Billie,

I am also a Kniveton, although from a long way back. My last Kniveton ancestor, and the only one I know about, was named Eleanor de Kniveton. Apparently she was born somewhere in Somerset County, England in the 1300's. She married Sir Peter de Greenham, who was born in Greenham, Somereset County, England in the 1300's. Sir Peter was the son of Alric de Greenham who was seated at Greenham Manor.Alric died and Sir Peter's older brother Sir Simon de Greenham married and obtained possesion of Greenham Manor. Sir Peter married Eleanor de Kniveton and from there on he was seated at the Manor of Kniveton.

So I believe Kniveton is or was the name of a place in Somerset County. I am a descendant of Sir Peter de Greenham and his wife Eleanor de Kniveton. My mother's maiden name is Elena Greenham.

I hope some of this information is of some use to you.

Good Luck!

David Martínez-Celis
