Thank you for your reply, David. What do you base your info on that David Knowles (Knowls, Noles), son of John Knowles, was born in 1785.Also, do you have a date of marriage?my g-g-g-grandfather Stephen (also son of John Knowles) is listed in the 1850 census as aged 50 so (if we trust that that's correct) he was born about 1779 or 1800. Also, what NC censuses was David listed in?Do you have a date when he moved south; at least, what's the first census that he's shown in Georgia or Florida? My g-g-g-grandfather Stephen (brother to your ancestor David) had a son named David J Knowles, born 1832.I have never been able to establish in certainty what the "J" is for but all the family thinks that it's James. I noticed your post for Wiley Knowles because my grandfather was named Wiley Bryant Knowles; he was named for his grandfather on his mother's side.My brother is named Wiley Bryant Henderson after our grandfather. Best wishes, cousin!
