If so, you could send for his SS-5. You need to find out when your grandparents came over and what village they were from. Do you know what nationality they were? My ancestors were Slovak. They came from Spis, Hungary, an area now in southern Poland near Nowy Targ. Mostly they came through New York. Hope this helps.
