Re: Wasyl Kosc, Austria Hungary to US in1913
A follow-up to my post.Ellis Island records show my grandfather, Wasyl Kosc, as arriving on June 3, 1913 from the town of Jaworuik, Galicia and that his age was 17.Two traveling companions with him from the same village were Stefan Malej (age 16) and Pawlo Stepanik (18).
Wasyl was probaby of Russian or Ukraniane heritage, so the family may consider themselves to be Ruthenian.
Although "Kosc" appears to be a more common type of name for pre WWI Galicians, Kosc may have been shortened. So, they name may have been Kosciow or something else.
The town of "Jaworuik" may also be mis-spelled.It may be Jaworiw????
Please contact me with any info.Thanks.
