Nice to hear from you as I said in my first message I have been in contact with a man name Jeff Kranig and he has offered to help me says he know all kinds of Kranig’s. I may have scared him off as I have been typing in all caps and just found out that’s not polite. I sure like spell check since I found it a few days ago. You ask about Victors folks and from what I know is dad was called Hank and his mom Idea. I think this lady was Victors step-mom and that she was Indian, this is where the information gets real fuzzy. They family settled somewhere in Iowa in the late 1800’s and were farmers. The story is that Hank and Idea died of the fever but that also is just rumor I also heard from a man named Melvin that they moved out West when the Victor and his brother Anton were just youngster. Victor said he and his brother worked on farms allover the state before he went into the Army. Not much else, oh yes I do remember Victor saying that his dad was from a large family and that other members of his dads family also came from Canada about the same time.
Hope to hear from you
PS. I don’t think his family was Canadian as I am told that it’s not a Canadian name. Victor did speak fairly good German but he never did say how he learned it.
