The Kreis brothers Henry and George
George Kreis and his brother, Henry Kreis, were both teamsters in Chicago. They were German Swiss Lutherans but born in US. Both brothers married Irish women. George Kreis married Bridget Mulcahey, from Limerick, Ire, in 1895 in Chicago. Henry married Mary Carney in 1895 also. I'm looking for information on these families. Did Bridget and Mary know each other? In 1904, the families lived next door to each other at 290/292 Illinois Street.
All I know about Mary Carney is that her parents were John Carney and Mary Duffy, both born in Ireland. They lived in Chicago and were probably married around 1872 as Mary Carney was born in 1876. The family lived in St. Patrick's and later Holy Family parish. According to family lore, Mary Carney was orphaned young (possibly only one parent died) and sent to a Catholic orphanage. She learned to sew in the orphanage and later supported her children as a seamstress.
