The place is probably Alsance Lorrine (the East side of the river was Prussia in the mid 1800's the date is probably 1825-1830 My aunt told me that they walked across the border into the US so the point of entry wasprobably the New York area. John's oldest son was born in Germany 1848 and the second son born in US 1852 listed place as New York.John and Simon were probably brothers or cousins, there is less than 5 years difference in their ages.Please note all of the probably's My grand father (who died when I was 1 1/2 years old)
didn't talk about his past much after my grandmother died and all of the verbal history is 3rd hand from an aunt by marriage after my uncle died. My father didn't remember any of the stories as he was about 10 months old when she died.

Bernard Married Katherine Althus (Althaus)
Aug 1870 by the Baptist Minister at that time
Son Berthold born 1874 or 5 I think in Muscatine
Son George Adam born 1878 Muscatine (my grandfather)
Katherine died some where in the early 1880's
Bernard remarried and had more children I can get that info (this is off the top of my head)Died in Cripple Creek Co. 1896 he was listed as 48 yrs old was transported back to Kanas City Mo for burial
Berthold married a Katherine and had two sons Orla and don't remember the other)
they are listed as stepsons of Hoover in Los Angeles Census(which one escapes me)
George Married Cora Linder in Pratt Co Ks 1904 Children in order are
Letty Mae
Catherine Alice
George Berthold
Cora Ella
Sam (my father had no middle name)
Cora Died in Feb of 1920
George married Verna Fern Shoup and had one more son Clinton Merlin
