I am researching the John Platt family of John, the Revolutioner, born about 1747 near Littlestown, York Co., Pa. John moved the family to Cambria Co., Pa about 1801 or so. His son Joseph married a gal named Sara KRISE. I am just starting on this KRISE family, but I have 2 baptisms of children of a George & Salome KRISE (GREISS) near Littlestown in Germany Twp., York Co. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church:
Catharina b 27 June 1776, bp.14 Sept 1777;
bapt sponsor: Barbara GREISSIN (single)
and
Henry b 26 July 1778, bp. 15 Sept 1778
bapt sponsor: Stephan GREISS & Barbara
2 more items:
My Sara KRISE who married Joseph Platt was a non-Catholic, but the Platt family was Catholic (one of those lost records of Conewago Chapel/ Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus families.) Most of Sara's children were baptized near Loretto in Cambria Co. A David KRISE was baptized as an adult at St. Michael's, Loretto before his marriage to Ruth Adams (the Adams family is Catholic - from York/Adams Co PA to Cambria Co before 1819. His record follows:
GREISS, David,born: not stated, bapt: 17 June 1827 at St. Michael's, Loretto; parents: George & Salome; bap gp: William Weakland & Charity McGuire, wife of Cornelius.
Joseph Platt applied for a land pension for his service in the War of 1812. That application was signed (x'd) by a David KRISE. The application was submitted from Cambria Co., PA.
Please let me know if you have found more documentation as this post is a few years late.
