I just found this site and thought I'd post a message. My late grandfather Carl Kubel (one of nine brothers and sisters born in Iowa sometime around 1910)said that his great grandparents (names unknown to me) left Germany (Prussia)because they did not want their young sons to have to go into the German military, because they were at war. They supposedly owned large vinyards and they were allowed to leave with $10,000 and came to America. They had to leave everything else they owned behind.
My grandfathers siblings are : (1) Kathryn (Ackerman) Kubel - Anaheim, California (2) Vesta (Hulet) Kubel - Nebraska City, Nebraska, (3) Louise Kubel, (4) Virginia Kubel - Burbank, California, (5) Alice (Castan) Kubel - Nebraska City, Nebraska, (6) Theodore Kubel - Nebraska City, Nebraska, (7) William Kubel - Fremont, Nebraska, (8) F.W. Kubel - Canton, Ohio
I believe Katheryn Ackerman and Alice Castan are still alive.I know that Theodore Kubel, William Kubel, and Carl Kubel have passed away.I am unsure about the others.
After reading some of the previous postings I was surprised to see so many of us Kubels out there.
