The impression I get from George W. Latimer's journal (the year of 1869) is that he knew the Kupers in Smithfield, Va. and promised to see them in richmond, where they were moving or had moved. He promised to escort their two daughters, Freddie and Annie to church, play games with them, etc. When George first moved to Richmond, Mr. K was there but Mrs. K was for some reason in Smithfield, and I think she must have had family there because there is other mention of Smithfield, maybe once more.George Latimer frequented the K's house, for dinner, for tea, to play with the children, and to see Mrs. K's nieces, Anna Cary Power and Cary Anna Power, twins. He fell in love with Anna Cary Power and subsequently married her.My Grandmother, their first child was born in 1873.I only have notes in his journal for the year 1869, so they are not married yet, but are courting.Anna Cary Power's mother is Catherine Cary who marries James F. Power.Mrs. K is Ariana Cary Kuper, sister to Catherine Power. So, there you have it.The K's played an important role in my great grandparents early lives!!
