John and Elizabeth Kuykendall d. ca. 1800-1894
The heirs of John and Elizabeth Kuykendall who date of death and residence location was not given, hired, Simon Vanarsdale, probably of either Mercer Co. and or Shelby County, KY to go to Vincennes Indiana in 1804 and bring back run away slaves George and Peggy who apparently belonged to John and Elizabeth who left them to their un-named children. There was a Peter Kuykendall living in Shelby Co., KY in this time period which would put him in the same location as Simon Vanarsdale.Simon went, arrested George and Peggy but some one intervened and a court case ensured.George and Peggy were freed, rearrested by Simon, another court case occurred, this time Gov. Wm. Henry Harrison intervened binding George to himself for 11 years. This all took place in 1804 - 1805.
“In the spring of 1804, Simon Vannorsdell, acting as agent for the heirs of John and Elizabeth Kuykendall, arrested two negroes named George and Peggy at Vincennes, and was about to carry them out of Indiana Territory.” “information that Vannorsdell was about to transport from the Territory certain indented servants, without their consent first had and obtained, with a design as is supposed of selling them for slaves.”
I need to know who John and Elizabeth were, where they died, where the will is filed and who the heirs were and where they were living at this date.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks
