I believe from my research that the Gottlieb Pagel, Frederick Laabs and August Laabs were close families.
I have learned that my husband's grandfather, William E Pagel married Frances Aland in Wisconsin in 1911.On January 8, 1913, Frances gave birth to William Robert Pagel.Frances sadly died on April 29, 1913 in Wisconsin.Frances lost a battle with Typhoid Fever that lasted three weeks.
I am not sure when it happened, but August Laabs adopted William Robert Pagel, according to 1920 Winona MN Census. My husband’s grandfather remarried in 1915.
Also, Anna Emeline Wilhelmine Laabs is buried in the Pagel cemetery Plot in Winona MN b. January 30, 1876 d. October 03, 1919.
In my search, I did find Fred Laabs listed in Winona MN Census, I'm not sure if this was his second marriage.I am thinking August is probably a son.
1900 Winona MN Census
Fred Laabs (Head, White, Male, January 1846, Age 54, Married 10 years)
+Augusta Laabs (Wife, White, Female, December 1862, Age 37, Married 10 years, Mother of 10 children, 7 living)
Fredryk Laabs (Son, White, Male, August 1876, Age 23, Born in Germany)
Ludwig Laabs (Son, White, Male, February 1886, Age 14, Born in Wisconsin)
Next door:
August Laabs (Head, White, Male, April 1868, Age 32, Married 10 years)
+ Louiza Laabs (Wife, White, Female, February 1874, Age 26, Married 10 years, no children)
Hope this helps.Let me know if you have any additional information regarding August Laabs.Thanks.
