Re: La Bolles in Idaho
Okay while I am not related to this family, the LaBolles in Somonauk have married into my Mailander family.I kindof got curious about the comments of Augustine and Francis having two separate marriages, with families in Idaho.I generally think in the case of Francis, there are inaccuracies in names and dates for his children. Largely the information comes from census records and I think for the most part they can be off by several years for age of births.I found Francis in the 1880 Census for Loda, IL.He is listed as Francis Laboll age 53 (b. 1827) born in France, wife is Mary J (or an F.) born in Ireland age 45 (b. 1835), their children are:Thomas (b. 1858), Mary (b. 1860), Albert (b. 1862), Francis (b. 1864), Joseph (b. 1868), George (b. 1871), and Theresa (b. 1872).The LaSalle County Genealogy guild has a marriage record for a Francis LaBolle marrying a Jane Cavanaugh in April 1857....maybe her full name is Mary Jane Cavanaugh.
Now from what I can tell the next available census with Labolles is the 1900 census where we find three Labolles in Idaho. Two brothers Alfred (b. 1864) and Thomas (b. 1862) in Latah County, and a Francis Labolle (b. 1856) and a Francis Sr. Labolle (b. 1826) in the adjacent county of Nez Perce, Idaho.Alfred and Thomas both born in Illinois with their father born in France, mother born in Illinois, got land patents in 1889 and 1891 respectively. Now Francis and father living with him fit the description closely of the 1880 census. The father is born in France and came to the US in 1855...as found in other information. In this census Francis Sr. is a widow. The year of birth Francis jr. is off from the 1880 census by quite a few years, but I do not think this is enough to assume that this is a completely different family.I think that Alfred may be the Albert noted in the 1880 census.
We must always remember that the census records often have errors in the names of children and their ages. From what I can tell, people have descendant information on George and Joseph, but not any of the other children.I believe that the children in Idaho are from his core family found in the Illinois 1880 census.Just a thought....I welcome any comments.
