Hi Bob, thanks for that info. I don't know much about Squire Lackey. However, he was born 1820 in Patrick Co., VA the son of George and Lucy Sharp. Squire was the younger brother to Samuel Jackson Lackey (my great, great grandfather who went to Colorodo in 1882. Most of Samuel's children went to Colo. before him. Squire was alive Aug. 25, 1870 (census) Squire bought land in Stokes 1845. Indenture 12/9/45 Joel Bayles by his att., William Bayles of Mower Co. Alabana to Squire lackey of Stokes Co., N.C.- for $150.50- tract in Stokes co. adjoining lands of the late Samuel Faddril decd. on Brury Sisk's line- on Mountain Branch-172 acres. Deed 15-484 Stokes
I thought I had an inventory of Squire's property after he died.Think he died in 1870.Can't find it right non but did find " Stokes Co., N.C. We commissioners with S.M. Shelton, county surveyor meet upon the lands of Sqire Lackey deceased, on 6/20/1894 and proceeded to lay off and alot the land between the heirs; Lot 1-W.J. Lackey 19 1/5,
John T. Lackey same, Juliney Hall same, Susan Law same, Martty Campbell same, Letty Frazier same." Also find Martha Lackey Cambell(43)married 2nd Lewis Taylor(42)May 28,1893 Stokes. Also find that my great grandfather James Madison lackey has property next to John Campbell in Stokes. this is all I have.lackey is my maiden name and I have proved the line back to John Lackey of Patrick, VA. I belong to the DAR and can give more info on the Lackey line. I have not found any of my Lackey's going to Crawford Co., Ill. Most of these stayed in Patrick, VA or went to Stokes then to Colo.- CA Hope this helps.
