Ray,
I have several things on 'George'....but as we both know, WHICH George is always in question. My information is very limited on George S., but the census does give a good look as there were two. Here is what I do know.
The George, son of William, was born ca 1798.It has been reported that his middle initial 'S' was for Samuel.
In the 1850 Census we can see them together in a central area.
Alexander Co., NC pg 104
38 38
David Lackey 57, farmer wife Anna and children - 7th child of William...thebrother
3939
William Lackey Jr. 67, shoemaker and wife Sarah ‘Sally’ [b VA] - 1st
child of William....the brother
4040
Samuel Lackey 52, wife Betsey....this would be George S.
....10th and last child of William the brother
4444
Alexander A. Lackey 38, wife 'Edney' [Edna Agnes Gooden] This Alexander is consistently seen with my Lackey's but I cannot prove his father, only suspect who it might be.
4545
George S. Lackey 58 and wife Jane.Although I cannot prove that this George is father of Alexander A., it has possibilities.
By 1860 these set of Lackey's are no longer together. Some have moved to the Pisgah area.

Hamilton Lackey - son of George the brother
427427 James McClelland wife Temperance, who is the daughter of Hamilton Lackey
429429Christopher Lackey, wife Elizabeth Pallie Woodward, who I suspect was possibly [and put that in all caps] the son of William Jr, son of William....the brother.
