I have recently begun the search into my family genealogy. I am not the first person in the family to do research. One of the pieces of information I was given by my cousin included information about Fielding Lacquey/Lackey:It seems Samuel and Frances were children of Fielding Lackey, listed in Buncombe Co. 1830-1850. In Buncombe Co. in 1830, only three children, two females and one male (all under the age of 5)are listed which fit the ages of Samuel born 6-9-1826 and died 5-1-1895, married Nancy Poindexter born 1835. Samuel is listed in the home of Fielding Lacquey in Buncombe Co. 1850. Fielding was 57, born 1793 in SC and was listed as a laborer. His wife Nancy was 46, born in 1804 in N.N.(??? typo for N.C.?). Children listed were:Samuel, age 22 and listed as a millwright; Mary A. age 21, Enoch C. age 17;Joel B. age 16;Sarah E. age 14, Harriet I. age 9; Alfred W. age 6; and John Manning and Martha E. age 1. They appear to be twins but it is unclear on the census if their last name is Lackey or Manning (perhaps a middle name for John???). Also listed is Frances Lackey age 77, born 1773 in N.C. that appears to be the mother of Fielding. This all I know about Fielding Lacquey/Lackey. Please contact me and let me know if this was helpful or if in the last six years you have found other information for our family. Note: Samuel Lackey and Nancy Poindexter were my great, great grandparents and Fielding Lacquey/Lackey and Nancy Lackey his wife were my great, great, great grandparents.
