I am trying to find the parents of John LADNER who, according to the family Bible, was born 2 Apr 1805, and according to the 1841 census was born in Madron. John married Sarah UNKNOWN (I think ELLIS) on 7 Dec 1835. Again, according to the Bible (but the census says Madron) Sarah was born in Tresco. John, Sarah and four of their children (William Henry, Angelina, Joseph and Edwin) immigrated to Australia on 7 Oct 1849 on the barque Agincourt. John died in Adelaide, South Australia, on 18 Aug 1867.
Now, my brick wall is that I can't find this John anywhere in Cornish records, and the South Australian records do not record his parents. The only John LADNER I can find in 1805 is my great great great grandfather, John Henry LADNER who was bapt on 28 Apr 1805. John Henry LADNER's parents were Francis LADNER and Jane LANYON. John Henry LADNER died in Sancreed on 4 Jun 1881.
Who is this other John LADNER who immigrated to Australia? I have been in touch with the Madron OPC and possibly he could be the son of: James LADNER and Mary BOASE (mar 11 Jun 1772 , Madron); or James LADNER and Elizabeth LAWRY (mar 14 Jul 1792, Madron); or John LADNER (wid) and Florence JENKIN (mar 5 Aug 1805, Madron). It also looks like John married prior to marrying Sarah.
Can anyone help me with this mystery please? I am thinking now that John may not have been his first name.
