Re: Rose Marie Lahiff ? b Ceylon about 1856

I am a great grandaughter of Rose Marie Lahiff or Mary Rose Lahiff as I know her. I too have been trying to trace her birth certificate withourt success. My information was that she was born on board a ship near the coast of Ceylon on the way to Fort William Calcutta where her father was stationed with the army. This lead has not gone anywhere either as I do not know the regiment. I paid a researcher a few years ago to look at births on board ships but to no avail. I am now hoping to trace her passage from the UK to Australia in 1873 or 74 to see if that might give me any more information.
