Daisy Ethel Wells Lambert, 98, of Stonega, VA, was
welcomed to Heaven by her Lord and Savior on Saturday,
February 9, 2013.
She was a member of the StoneEga Calvary Baptist Church
for nearly 84 years, where she taught Sunday School and
Bible School, and coordinated refreshments and meals for
Bible School and other church events.
She was affectionately known as the 'cookie and kool-aid'
lady. She also served as president of the Women’s
Missionary Union and helped support its work as a
correspondent for the Post newspaper for many years. She
was a shining example and mother figure to many who knew
and loved her.
Not only was she steadfast in her Christian faith, she was
a beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, granny, great
granny, and great, great granny. She loved her friends and
neighbors in the community where she has lived since she
was five years old.
She was reunited with her husband, Forrest Lambert, Sr.;
two sons, Delbert Marshall Lambert and Ellis McClain
Lambert; granddaughters, Janet Humbert and Jodi Clark;
parents, William and Alva Wells; sisters, Mary Lewis,
Belle Bowers, and Ella Edwards; and brothers, Garfield
Wells, Fred G. Wells, and Lawrence Wells.
Mrs. Lambert is survived by nine of eleven children,
Stella Humbert, Dayton, OH, Sidney and Lorraine Lambert,
Indianapolis, IN, Opal and Ross Clark, Dayton, OH, Robena
and Kermit Clark, Madisonville, TN, Nelda Maurine
Dennison, Norton, VA, Lorrine and Alan Wells, Stonega, VA,
Rue and Bill Gembach, Norton, VA, Forrest Jr. and Margaret
Lambert, Stonega, VA, and C. O. and Cathy Lambert, Big
Stone Gap, VA; she was blessed with the following grand-
children, Ray and Pat Humbert, Randy and Terri Lambert,
Jeffrey and Sherrie Lambert, Sherry and Bob Moore, Robin
and Stanley Paul, Matthew and Kim Clark, Timothy and Tami
Clark, Dall and Melissa Clark, David Clark, Kristina and
Scott Jones, Jessica and Scott Brown, Keith and Sherry
Davis, Karen and David Martin, Dennis and Pat Wells, Terry
and Greg Bailey, Tracy and John Vandiver, Billy and Debbie
Gembach, Beth and Steve Maggard, Mark and Dawn Lambert,
Angela and Adam Moore, Jamie and Bethany Lambert, C. O.
and Alice Lambert, Katie and Rick Phillips, and Channie
and Junior Franklin; great grandchildren, Sydney Lambert
and fiancé Jeremy Ross, Scott Lambert and fiancé Carrie
Crippin, Jessica Lambert and Matt Marshall, Amber Moore,
Dusty Paul, Kourtney and Luke Edwards, Kayla, Mattie, and
Marissa Clark, and Gracianna and Eaden Clark, John Drew
Clark and Jenna Clark and fiancé Daniel Rice, Lucas and
Grayson Jones, Brett Newton, Taylor and Hunter Davis, and
Tori and Brandi Smith, Christopher, Alexandra, and Patrick
Wells, Andrew and Austin Bailey, Kristin and Leigha
Gembach, Cody Maggard and fiancé Yoshie Maejima, Riley and
Clay Maggard, Steven and Gena Maggard, Massey Seabolt,
Maddy Moore, Cameron, Allison, and Morgan Lambert, Hannah,
Sarah, and Caleb Phillips, and Daniel and Woody Franklin;
great, great grandchildren are Brayden Gray, Briar
Maggard, and C. J. Maggard; several nieces, nephews,
cousins; and special friends and neighbors.
Special thanks to the Appalachia Rescue Squad, doctors and
staff at Lonesome Pine Hospital, Friendship Ambulance
Service, and the doctors and staff at Holston Valley
Medical Center for the extraordinary care they provided
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 11,
2013, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the funeral on Tuesday,
February 12, 2013, at 11 a.m., at the Roy A. Green Funeral
Home, Appalachia, VA.
Interment will follow at Glencoe Cemetery in Big Stone
Gap. Officiating ministers are Rev. Rick Phillips and Rev.
