Joel--George Lemon/Lamon b ? d 12 Jan 1826 m Mary McDonald 17 Nov 1785 Arden, Berkeley Co VA is the ancestor of Ward Hill Lamon (Lincoln's law partner and later body guard), and of the Theodore Lamon b 19 Dec 1812 Bunker Hill, Berkeley Co VA m Lavinia E. Sconce 14 Sep 1848 Vermilion Co IL--Theodore and his family is listed on the 1870 Vermillion Co IL census, pg 340 right. Is Lavinia E. Sconce an in-law the Emily Palmer Sconce you mention?
The letters you have are interesting--I have looked to see if the names you mention might be connected to Theodore Lamon and his family.I find that Theodore Lamon had a brother, Robert Bruce Lamon b 1830 Virginia. The parents of Theodore Lamon and Robert Bruce Lamon were John E. Lamon b May 1785 VA d 1846 Brook Point near Danville, Vermillion Co IL m Ruth Ann Chenowith 3 Jan 1811 Berkeley Co VA (Ruth Ann Cheowith was the daughter of James Chenoweth and Rebecca BRUCE).Could the Bruce and the R.B. Lemon be one in the same? There is a town of Shasta close to Mt. Shasta, I drove through Shasta just last week--I wonder if was previously Shasta City?I also show that Theodore and Robert Bruce Lamon had two sisters, Virginia Lafayette Lamon b Jun 1825 Bunker Hill Berkeley Co Va d Jun 1897 Portland OR m John H. Moores 11 May 1847 Benton Co MO, and Ella R. Lamon b 1831 VA d Portland OR m Isaac Ross Moores II.The M.I. Moores that was said to soon marry Ellen Lamons, may have been a relative of John H. and Isaac Ross Moores. As to who the Ellen Lamon belonged to I don't know, but I have no information on the children of Robert Bruce Lamon.
Of note is the info I've found on Theodore and Robert Burce Lamon's brother, James Chenowith Lamon b 10 May 1817 VA d 22 May 1875 Yosemite Valley CA.I think I have info somewhere that this James was the first person buried in Yosemite Valley CA.
Here is the listing of George Lamon and Mary McDonald's children, and their children, that are shown to have been in Vermillion Co IL:

Burkhart (Ward Hill Lamon died at Robert Davidson Lamon's house--Robert was a carpenter and in a Danville, IL history written in the 1880's is credited with having built nearly all the wooden structures in the town--Robert was also a friend of Abraham Lincoln's and served as a Deputy U.S. Marshall in Washington during the Civil War--Robert Davidson Lamon and Ward Hill Lamon are shown as attending the dedication of the Gettysburg Battlefield, and heard Lincoln's famous Gettysburg Address).
I became interested in the Lamon families of Vermillion Co IL when I discovered that my Lemmon family lived in Vermillion Co IN.
I live in Washington state, and I have some listings for the wagon trains that came over the Oregon Trail--I'll try to look that info up and see if any of the names you mention are listed for any year that the pilgrims' names were known.
