SALEM – Robert Cass Lamping a resident of Salem, died Sunday, April 21.
He was born on July 29, 1921 in Vancouver, Wash., the son of Milton and Laurita Van Doren Lamping.Bob grew up in Vernonia, Ore., and graduated from high school there in 1939.He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1967 as a technical sergeant.
Bob married Doris Danielson on August 5, 1957 in Las Vegas, Nev.; they settled in Salem in 1968.Bob worked for S.A.I.F. for several years, and later for Children and Family Services, from which he retired.
Bob had owned his own boat and been a commercial fisherman between Astoria and Warrenton for a number of years.He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jan Ree Ward in Salem.He was also a member of the Four Corners Gun Club since 1968, and enjoyed fishing, reading and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Dorris of Salem; Son, Charles Lamping of Newberg; daughters, Linda Pederson of Dallas and Sheri Kubishta of Salem; brothers Bud of Lebanon, Ray of Astoria and Art of Vernonia; sister, Gloria Peter of Madisonville, La.; 14 grand children; and 9 great-grand children.
Graveside services will be 11a.m. Saturday, April 27 at Restlawn Memory Gardens in Salem.Memorials may be made to the Elder David Robert Pederson Missionary Fund in San Antonio, Texas in care of Dallas Mortuary Chapel, who is in charge of the arrangements.
