You know so much about the Lancasters.....can you help me with Martha Lancaster born 1756 who married Henry (Hy) Turney 13 December 1788 in Davidson County Tennessee?
When did this Martha die?Did she have any children?
I have a Matthew Turney I can not place....
List of Tabacco Growers in 1790 Spanish Natchez District
Turney, Matheu - 1,100 pounds
Mathew Turney rec. Spanish Land Grant in 1795
there is also a Peter Turney I can not place....
this might be him - Index to Vol. Soldiers 1784-1811 trans. by V.D.White
Turney, Peter, Pvt. Nash's Co, Isaac Roberts' Regt Mil. Terr south of the Ohio, 1794
(this might be the Peter Turney who was Smith Co magistrate and who died 1804 Dixon Springs Tn...but he is usually referred to as Captain Turney....he was a surveyor and is on an 1802 Smith Co Tn deed as witness along with John Lancaster.)
there is documented to have been a Peter Turney killed at Ft Mims in 1813.....most of these men had come from south of the Natchez area.
anyway, could Martha Lancaster Turney have had two sons - one a Mathew and one a Peter?Mathew would have left TN by 1790 and Peter sometime after 1794 but before 1813.This is why if they were young men and left the area, they don't appear in other TN records.
Any help appreciated.
