Samuel Lancz, Judit Muller, Hungary
Please disregard my previous message,
which contained wrong e-mail address.
I search for the descendants of Samuel Lancz,
born in 1859, in Eastern Hungary,
died in 1933 in a suburb of Budapest (Pesterzsebet)
He had probably 13 children, of which
3 died in childhood;
5 emigrated to the US before World War I;
4 perished in the holocaust;
1 survived the holocaust in Budapest.
The surviving person’s name was Mrs. Bela Muller nee Judit Lancz.
She set up a memorial for her sisters and brothers killed in Auschwitz-Birkenau, and she migrated to Hawaii around 1945.
(The memorial still exists in Pesterzsebet.)
My grandfather, Sandor Lancz was among the Lanczes perished in the holocaust.
No traces remained after him, not even a photo.
There is a hope that the descendants of his brothers and sisters in the US might have preserved at least a postcard written by him.
I can offer photos of old Lancz tombstones in Hungary.
Variants of the names:
LANCZ might have been changed to LANCE or LANTZ after immigration to the US.
MULLER might have been changed to MILLER.
I apologize for my previous, erroneous message.I did not know that I couldn’t correct or delete it later.
