Jerry,
That's him! The Lewis Landrum in my family made and repaired fiddles. My Grandpa played the fiddle and we still have one of his fiddles that was repaired and reglued by Lewis Landrum. Inside the fiddle is a sticker that reads, "Lewis Landrum, 1943."
And I also seem to remember someone telling me that his real first name was Stephen. That makes sense because I bet his mother named him after his grandfather, Stephen Brittenham.
Lewis Landrum's mother was Minnie Brittenham Landrum. She died in 1939 near Monett, Missouri. She lived there near her brother Stephen Brittenham Jr. "Bud".
Lewis had a brother named Fred Landrum. Believe he lived near his mother in Missouri and worked for the railroad. I have a picture of Lewis and Fred while they were on a visit to see my Great grandmother Phoebe Anna Brittenham McMillian. She was a sister to Lewis Landrum's mother Minnie.
I don't have the records with me now, but I remember someone telling me who Lewis and Fred's father was, just hope I wrote it down. If not, it shouldn't be too hard for me to find the information. I live in Pendleton County, Kentucky and should be able to find their father in the county records. He definately ties into the Landrum family that originated in Grant County near Knoxville.
My mother told me that there was a famous golfer named Landrum from Northern Kentucky and she always wondered if that was Lewis Landrum's son.
I will ask my mother if she has ever heard of Sam Landrum.
Thanks for getting back to me so fast.
