William,

Here is what I know.My gggrandfather, Henry Landrum was a member of Battery A, 2nd Alabama Light Artillery. The unit was also known as Charpentier’s Battery.Samuel was in Co B, 2nd Alabama Light Artillery, also known as Waters’ Battery. The unit was detached to Cobb’s Bn—details below.Henry and Samuel were brothers I believe. They had an older brother, William Augustus also. They were enumerated in the Washington County, AL Census of 1860.They appear as a family group, some married and some not.I have the whole story on Henry, but wondered what happened to Samuel.

Alabama, Her History, Resources, War Record, and Public Men from 1840 to 1872. by W. Brewer, 1872

This command was organized at Mobile city, in October 1861, and the men and officers were from there. The battery remained in the defence of that city till the spring of 1862, when it moved to Corinth. It was in the Kentucky campaign, losing lightly at Mumfordville, and none at Perryville. It suffered severely at Murfreesboro, where it was in Manigault's brigade. At Chicamauga the battery was engaged without loss; but at Mission Ridge it lost three guns and half its force were captured. The other half were distributed in Cobb's (Kentucky) and Mayberry's (Tennessee) battery, and served till the end.

Hope this helps.

Pete
