Bath county Landrums
I am in the infancy of trying to form my family tree.Having just spent the better part of 5 hours going through the threads here, I am unfortunately at a standstill.I have read several things here that my father, uncle and aunt have passed on to me as family facts, but have no proof. My father is Darrell D Landrum, born 6/2/38 in Hot Springs, Va.His father was Huse Landrum, born 5/24/1900 and died 10/28/1980.Huse was married to Ellie L (formerly Campbell) born in 1908 and died of a brain hemmorhage in 1946.They had three boys...Darrell, Winkie (Wayne) and Lindsay (Linzie?) as well as an infant daughter that died either at birth or shortly thereafter.I believe they also had a young daughter (Berdie?) who was very young when she passed away. The parents of Huse were A (Arch?) R Landrum born: 4/13/1856 died: 2/19/1930 and Julia Ann Landrum born: 6/22/1872 died: 4/11/1969.The spelling on their headstones at the Hot Springs, Va cemetery are: A R Landrum and Julia Ann Landrum.I am not sure what the A stands for, have only heard my father refer to him as Arch as that was what his grandmother called him.Another bit that my father has told me is that Julia Ann may have been Native American (Cherokee?).
A R and Julia Ann had 13 children (!)...Huse (my grandfather), Thomas, Andy, Fred, Charlie, Guy, Lillie, Rosa, Pearl, Sallie, Cora, William Clyde and John.
I would really like to find out more info on A R (Arch) who his parents were, where they came from to live in Hot Springs and keep backtracking.I moved here to Lynchburg about three years ago and see that there have been Landrums in this general area for a very long time.My grandmother Ellie (nee Campbell) was from here in Campbell county as well.
Thank you ahead of time for any and all help,
Darrell H Landrum
