Thanks for all of your input.I note that the marriage index transcription available online shows that Margaret Clouson....shown as a daughter of a Thomas Clouson.... married William Brown in 1722....so that would seem to be in conflict with the "1715 year" by when the wife of William Brown, Junior was already named "Margaret."It would appear to me that two different William Browns each married a Margaret, with only one of them probably being a Clouston/Clouson.By the way, I did not realize that Thomas Clouson/Clouston had married a Miss Noel, so thanks for that information.
The Berriman Brown (son of Charles Brown who left his Will in Essex Co., VA in 1747) who I mentioned in an earlier post married a Miss Noel.In addition, his brother Merriday Brown (or POSSIBLY a son of that brother who was named Merriday "II") mentioned a daughter in his Will in the early-1800s in Essex Co., VA whose "married last name" was also Noel. Finally, a later man in the family who was also named Merriday Brown (probably a Merriday "II," "III" or "IV") also married a Miss Noel.Perhaps those three Brown/Noel marriages are a "clue" that the William Brown who married Margaret Clouston (a daughter of Mrs. Mary (Noel) Clouston) was the likely brother of Merriday and Berriman named William Brown....and perhaps the above William Brown, Junior was married to a Margaret Unknown (by at least Dec 1715) who was NOT a Clouston/Clouson after all (especially in light of the 1715 versus 1722 dates).
The following book has some bad mistakes in it, but it also has some "basis in truth:"
http://books.google.com/books?id=jC9fDj72fxAC&pg=PA20&lpg=PA20&dq=%22Evan+Morgan%22+%22Elizabeth+Allen%22&source=bl&ots=1wL4WUrDh4&sig=qsoAsVZcMAhJtil4z248F_N2dno&hl=en&ei=aCrHTY_EJcnegQf9ntDLBA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=6&ved=0CEAQ6AEwBQ#v=onepage&q=%22Evan%20Morgan%22%20%22Elizabeth%20Allen%22&f=falsehttp://books.google.com/books?id=jC9fDj72fxAC&pg=PA20&lpg=PA20&dq=%22Evan+Morgan%22+%22Elizabeth+Allen%22&source=bl&ots=1wL4WUrDh4&sig=qsoAsVZcMAhJtil4z248F_N2dno&hl=en&ei=aCrHTY_EJcnegQf9ntDLBA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=6&ved=0CEAQ6AEwBQ#v=onepage&q=%22Evan%20Morgan%22%20%22Elizabeth%20Allen%22&f=false
It mentions a William Brown who supposedly married an Elizabeth Allen. If I recall correctly, the book claims that this Elizabeth Allen was a SISTER of Valentine Allen (but I have no idea if that is correct). This William Brown died in the 1600s, and his widow Elizabeth Allen married second to Evan Morgan.Evan Morgan also died, and Elizabeth Allen then married third to a James Taylor. This book claims that this James Taylor was the same man who later married Martha Thompson (the ancestors of US presidents James Madison and Zachary Taylor...and also Jefferson Davis, if I recall correctly)....but my research shows that these were obviously two different James Taylors (the one who married Elizabeth Allen left his Will in Westmoreland Co., VA many years before the one who married Martha Thompson left his Will in Orange Co., VA, as I recall). This COULD have been the William Brown, however, who was the "cause" of the other William Brown being referred to as "the younger" (both of these Brown families were apparently in the Old Rappahannock Co., VA area for at least some period of time in the 1600s).Research shows that this older William Brown descended from the man with the unusual name of Original Brown (and there was also a man in this family who was named Maxfield Brown....though I believe that the above book calls him "Maxwell"....but it has been a while since I looked, so I could be wrong as to just how they refer to him). This family had a "major presence" in Westmoreland Co., VA, and I see little reason at this time to suspect that they were related to the William Brown who married the DAUGHTER of Valentine Allen named Elizabeth Allen....but who knows? We do not seem to have a DNA donor from either of these two Brown lines at this time (despite having about 700 male Brown DNA donors currently in the overall Brown Genealogy Society DNA testing project).
The above book also claims that it was Francis Brown "II" of "my" DNA "Group 10" who married the Elizabeth Allen who was a daughter of Valentine Allen. It would certainly appear that this is incorrect, and the Elizabeth Allen who married Francis Brown "II" was probably a daughter of a male relative of Valentine Allen.
Not to get "too deep" here, but the above James Taylor who married Martha Thompson had taken a man named John Davison in Essex Co., VA "under his wing."James Taylor provided land to John Davison (almost gave it to him) in Spotsylvania/Orange Co., VA in the 1720s.John Davison later moved to Amelia Co., VA around 1743....and a William Brown who had lived in Amelia since about 1740 was the witness when John Davison purchased that land.William Brown MUST have already known John Davison, especially since William Brown's land in Amelia was not real close to the land that John Davison was buying.I would not be surprised if this William Brown was the same William Brown who was that witness in Spotsylvania Co., VA in the late-1720s, and also the same William Brown who was then in Caroline Co., VA in the 1730s.
Also in Amelia Co., VA in the mid-1700s with William Brown were an Abraham Brown (records show that he was from Caroline Co., VA), a Daniel Brown, a George Brown (also from Caroline Co., VA) and a Shadrack Brown. That Daniel Brown and Shadrack Brown were the witnesses on a deed for a son of John Davison in Prince Edward Co., VA in the 1750s.The older Abraham Brown (died by 1735) of "my" DNA "Group 10" in Caroline Co., VA was married to Mary Tribble, and Mary was the aunt of a Shadrack Tribble. Also, Abraham and Mary (Tribble) Brown had a son who was named Daniel Brown. The William Brown in Amelia, however, was a member of DNA "Group 69" versus "my" DNA "Group 10" (per recent DNA testing on a living male Brown descendant), so he MAY have married a daughter of Abraham and Mary (Tribble) Brown (and that may be why that William Brown was apparently the William Brown who was chosen to help appraise the Caroline Co., VA estate of the older Abraham Brown in 1735....and sons were not allowed to perform that duty for a deceased parent, but a "son-in-law" apparently was allowed to do so).It would not surprise me too much if that William Brown was the William Brown "III" that you mentioned in one of your other posts....but that is "pure conjecture" at this point in time.
Note: Another proven member of DNA "Group 69" who was also named William Brown died in Henrico Co., VA in the 1720s or 1730s, and hewas married to an Ann.I wonder if that could possibly have been William Brown, Junior, and I wonder if Margaret was actually Margaret Ann?Whoever these men really were, researchers of DNA "Group 69" are trying to determine just HOW these two William Browns (one in Amelia/Prince Edward Co., VA and one in Henrico Co., VA) were related to one another. The William Brown in Henrico Co., VA had a son who was named Daniel Brown....so that name keeps "appearing."
I do not think that I need you to "dig" into your files anymore for me.I really appreciate what you have provided already.I will continue to "keep my eyes open" for William "Junior" and his wife Margaret....and for their son William "III."
By the way, are you by chance a descendant of the Henry Young of Essex Co., VA who married Rachel Smith? If so, I would be your relative, via that Smith family.
