Wm H was my grandfather.Several wives.Starting at his death (which was abt 1910 in Yakima Washington--buried in Washougal Cemetery):Married to my grandmother Elizabeth Oden of Texas who he met in Washington while she visited her sister-he was around 50, she was half his age.He died (death certificate states "drownded in a ditch while intoxicated"), mason his profession, while he brother Frank was living in NW as well.I have a small ledger that was his with very few entries, and signature.(Frank actually died in Portland, Oregon--buried there--informant was their surviving sister Mary Lane Taylor.)
Wm H was one of 4 children of John L(ewis) Lane and Hannah Gentry -- marriage license in vital stat in Anderson, Indiana.Four children:WmH, Francis (Frank), Martha (died infant 8 months and buried next to Hannah in Neese Cemetery), and Mary (Taylor).
The story gets interesting there:
Wm. Henry had several wives:There was a Martha Quickam (I have none of that information) in Indiana. There was Susan Skinner (he is listed with her when he is listed in the Nebraska militia--I had a copy somewhere), and then Elizabeth Oden in Washington.Sounds like a westward-thinking man (with a string of women behind!).My suspicion is more along the line of abandonment as children do not accompany him.
But here we are--related!I keep trying to connect with some Indiana Lanes!
