My 2Xs Ggranduncle, William Lane, b.1804 in PA, appears on the Mason Co., IL 1850 Census. We believe his family made the trip in the early 1840s from PA,OH,VA to Illinois. Families with whom we believe they traveled are: LANE, WISE, LeFEVRE, SCHOONOVER, and perhaps PATTERSON among others. My 3Xs Ggrandfather & William's father, Lawrence Lane, b. 1777 in Dutchess Co., NY, joined his son's household (William & Eveline Seely Lane) after the 1840 Census was reported & he appears on that Mason Co., IL 1850 Census.Do you know who John Y. Lane's parents were? Children for Wm. & Eveline Seely Lane were: Mathew, b. abt 1827 in VA(now WV)m. M.J.Blizard); William, b. 1830 in VA(m. Margaret ?); John, b. 1840 in IL; Samantha A., b. 1842; Thomas C., b. 1844(m. Mathilda Haas); Oliver, b.1846 in IL; Lawrence, b. 1851. If any of these names sound familiar to you, I will gladly share my info with you.
