Amanda Langley's Parents?

By Patricia Stricklin December 13, 2001 at 10:24:14

I'm researching my husband's grt grandmother Amanda Langley. I have found only one family in Alabama who may be her parents. Amanda Langley b: 01 Jan. 1844. She married William Elisha/Elijah Dollar. I could not make out the name of her father on death certificate (first name began with the letter A----but he was born in Al. and mother unknown was born in Ga.) I have searched the 1850 census records for Al. and found only one Amanda Langley b: ca 1843 (year of birth off 1 yr)and she was listed as daughter of David Langley b: ca 1810 in NC & wife Nancy Ann Ligon/Legon b: 04 Sept. 1808 SC. I found burial place for David & Nancy in Franklin Co., Al. Does anyone out there know if this is my husband's grt grandmother's parents? Amanda Langley Dollar died in Cullman County, Al. I would like to exchange family information with anyone who is related. This same David Langley was listed on the 1850 Agricultural Census for Franklin Co., Al. He had 25 acres of improved land and 135 acres of unimproved land. Cash value of his farm was $500,value of farm implements & machinery $50; value of livestock listed at $180. My name is Patricia Griggs Stricklin. You can contact me through this genforum or email me at sstricklin@mindspring.com
