Re: Thomas Langley, Kent Co., DE
We live on the borderline of Kent County DE (USA)and the state of Maryland, but oddly enough, Kent County MD does NOT adjoin us! Go on Mapquest's website to see it clearly.
I do have some Delaware Langley info from the state Archives to write up, if anyone expresses an interest, but nothing so early as 1725. There were indeed some Langleys in NJ, southeast PA, Delaware and NE Maryland as early as the 1600s (with a handful of Thomases)but I dare anyone to "string 'em up" with proper documentation or show how they came from the north, south, or directly from England!
I am from southern NJ, and definitely have traced our Langleys back to pre-Revolution, but before that, I've seen little more than armchair guesses of others who quote second- and third-hand "sources" or family hear-say.
Even more confusing is that all of Delaware was called the "lower counties" of Pennsylvania during much of the William Penn years.--- Dolores in DE
