Re: Anna Langley & Alexander VanDyke of NJ
Joseph, I descend from your Richard Langley's sister Hannah.Richard lived 1864 to 1943, and was a true legendin carpentry. "Uncle Dick" apprenticed his nephew (my grandfather) C. Harry Langley,1881 to 1965.This I hear from my father Robert S., who is still living in Millville at age 83.
I assume that Dick's daughter Anna is from his first marriage to Mary Thompson, because he is buried at Siloam Cem., Vineland-- with Mary, and Anna and Alexander Van Dyke very nearby, appearing as if Richard had bought several lots when Mary died young. Two other young daughters of Richard and Mary lie with them (Beatrus and Della, if my memory serves).
In what part of Salem county were Anna and Alexander living in 1920?Do you know their exact Vineland address in 1930? Did Anna have any siblings who reached adulthood?
I can't wait to hear if you have a photo of Anna or her parents. I have one of Hannah, and (surprize!)the FATHER of Hannah and Richard, OUR MUTUAL ANCESTOR. What have you heard about him, if anything?
I live in Delaware, Joseph, so could easily meet you at a library if you live in SJ, to each make photocopies of ourpapers and pictures.Do you know anything about Loretta or Violet?A Van Dyke widow I phoned in Cumberland County said Loretta retired to Florida -- but Loretta would be in her 90s now, IF living, plus would not have the Van Dyke surname, or I'd be glad to phone her! I believe the widow I called had been married to a bro. of Alex.
