I apologize for the typo:I meant Kirkland, not Kirland.My fault.I haven't found out what the A. in James A. Lanier is, but perhaps it could be Augusta or Augustus, since he named a son that.(Of course, his son's name was Augustus A. Lanier!)I will continue to do research on the matter.

I would love to see any information you have on the Lanier family.I've done a cursory trace all the way back to the 1500s, when Nicholas Lanier (aka Lasnier or Laniere) moved to England from France.
