Here's what I know about John Laramy's family:

John Laramy was bp. 15 Feb. 1789 in Fremington, Devon, son of William and Ann (Ireland) Laramy. He was a member of the Wesleyan Church in Barnstaple, Devon. He likely married his wife Elizabeth in that church; however, the marriage records have not yet been abstracted into the IGI.She was born ca. 1792.

While John attended church in Barnstaple, he likely lived in South Molton.Pigots directory of 1822/3 shows John Laramy, Maltster (brewer) on South Street in South Moulton.

John apparently came to Batavia, NY in 1840, his family following in 1845 (North, A Descriptive and Biographical Record of Genessee County, 1899).He may have followed his brother Philip there. The 1850 Census shows him in Batavia, occupation Malster, with $1100 of real estate. He also appears there on the 1860 and 1870 Census.John died in Batavia on 2 Oct. 1874 (probate file). He left a will dated 8 April 1867.While this will is now lost, information on the heirs is contained in the probate file.He left his widow Elizabeth and children:

i. William, born ca. 1822.The 1850 Census of Batavia, NY shows him as age 28, carpenter, and indicates that he had married his wife Elizabeth within the year. She was also a Laramy, daughter of Philip Laramy, b. 25 Mar. 1824 Barnstaple, Devon. The 1860 Census of Batavia shows William as a Master Carpenter. In 1874 he was executor of his father’s will, and he later was apparently in the timber business with his son-in-law Charles Butcher.William apparently died in Batavia, NY in 1886 (freepages.family.rootsweb.com/~studerfamly/names13.htm, accessed 12/30/04).Widow Elizabeth Laramy went to Cambridge, MA to live with her daughter. She died there on 26 June 1908, aged 84 years, 3 months, and 1 day.The death record says she was “widow of William Laramy, maiden name Laramy, daughter of Philip Laramy & Nancy Warren, born So. Moulton, England.”William and Elizabeth had one child:
i. Mary Elizabeth, b. 13 Jan. 1851 Batavia, NY, d. 22Jan. 1929 Cambridge, MA.Married in Batavia in 1872 Charles Butcher.

ii. Elizabeth, b. 13 Aug. 1824, bp. 12 Sep. 1824, Wesleyan Church, Barnstaple, Devon. She was living in 1874, married to Mr. Charles of Batavia, NY.
iii. John Jr., b. ca. 1826, living in Battle Creek, MI in 1874.Apparently later returned to upstate New York.
iv. Mary Ann, b. 31 Jan., bp. 22 Mar. 1831 Wesleyan, Barnstaple.Married to a Mr. Hart and living in Freeport, Ill. in 1874.
v. Philip, b. 30 Jan., bp. 15 Mar. 1835 Barnstaple Wesleyan. He was a farmer in Batavia and died there in 1917 (freepages.family.rootsweb.com/~studerfamly/names13.htm, accessed 12/30/04).He married Mary Cockran and had children:
i. Frank J., died in 1935.
ii. William H., b. 30 Mar. 1864 Batavia, d. 3 Dec. 1912 Byron, NY
iii. Lewis P., b. ca. 1871, d. 6 May 1956, aged 85.
