First of all, apologies for the long delay in responding.

By way of background, the following is based on research done by a company called Family Researchers Limited in 1979. They were commissioned by a firm of solicitors, Leonard Gray & Co., of Essex (in the UK for our American readers!) in order to administer the estate of Mrs. Emily Clare Halfpenny who died intestate.

Being uncertain of the etiquette in these matters, I’ve omitted some of the names and details of those I think may still be alive.

Please remember that the relationships stated are those with Emily Clare and I’m English so the date formats are dd.mm.yyyy!

The extracts:

Thomas Allworthy (grandfather). Apparently born 1837 or earlier, married Jane Lewis (19.09.1858) and apparently died before 17.07.1902

Jane Allworthy, nee Lewis (grandmother). Apparently born before 1837 and died 17.07.1902, a widow.

Emily Jane Larbalestier, nee Allworthy (mother). Born 8.11.1867, m. 23.10.1902 to Philip Albert Larbalestier who is thought to have died on 9.02.1947.

Philip Charles Larbalestier (brother). Thought to have died a bachelor on 20.05.1946. I presume he is the nephew of your gt gt grandfather, named in his honour. Please note I have checked and my source does spell Philip with one “l” on every occasion.

My grandmother, Mabel Allworthy, died well before I was born. Apart from my father’s generation, the only person above I do remember meeting is Thomas Walter Charles A, Mabel's brother and my Father’s favourite uncle. I was about 10 and remember a very kind, gentle and interesting old man. I still have the stone age axe head he gave me!

So hope some of this is useful. As I say, you have all the info I have save for some details of last known address etc. for those possibly still alive as I understand it is not the done thing to publish such on the internet. Any follow up questions do please ask. Similarly any gaps you can fill, I would be more than interested.

Good luck with your further researches.
