Re: LaReau/Larreau family of Buffalo, NY
I have been searching for any info I can find on the Lareau family, and always come up with a blank, but your posting is the first I have seen that gives me any clue that the Lareau family was from Buffalo and leads me to believe that you might be able to give some insite. My Lareau (first name unknown) was married to the Eberle family of Buffalo New York.
The information I have comes from an old note written by my Grandmother’s sister. It says, “Daddy’s side was the French, the name was Lareau” Meaning his father’s side of the family.
My Great Great Grandfather was John Eberle. He owned foundries in Buffalo and in Chicago and New Athen’s Illinois. John Eberle’s wife’s name was Mary Obermaier whom I also have little to go on. The family was Catholic and he and his wife had 14 children. Their son William Eberle (my Great Grandfather) was born in 1893 in the time period you mentioned in your posting. However, It is John Eberle’s Lareau mother I am trying to find and if you could lead me in the right direction, I would be very appreciative.
Thank you for any help,
