Larner Bookplate Ireland c. 1893
Hi Larners.
I have come accross a Larner Bookplate (a bookplate is the label on the inside of the book indicating ownership which all gentry with significant libraries would have printed for their collections).
Basically I would be interested in getting more information on the original owner of the book. The book dates from circa 1893 (and is a copy of Nathaniel Hawthornes Scarlet Letter if you are interested) and the bookplate quotes Wordsworth "The ever welcome company of Books"
The picture is of a young child with a flower in his/her hand. The nameplate "Larner" is between an overlapping T, M and L on the left and on the right what looks like E, M and L.These are presumable initials of T,M. Larner and E.M. Larner.I also believe there is a small D. Larner signature which I am assuming may be the artist as the picture is quite simple.
I would be interested in any information which might identify the original family.
Many thanks
Geraldine
