Re: I'm Looking For Some Of My Relatives
You must be the wife of Jerry.I was graduated from Newark High in 1964, a year after him, I believe, although we did not know each other, as we are "shirt-tail" cousins.
I have been working on the family for many years and must tell you that there is some confusion in your message. The James who married Sarah SMITH and had Olive was the son of Thomas, not his father. The father James married Elizabeth DAY, daughter of Abraham DAY, hence the use of that name in succeeding generations.Anyway, I have a lot to share on this branch.
Actually, you are very right about the spelling of the surname. The branch that went from NJ into PA, then east central Ohio and west seems to have preferred LARRISON, while the branch that stayed in NJ kept LARISON (I have eaten at the Larison Turkey Farm Restaurant in Chester NJ, and notice also Larison's Corners, a small town near Trenton). Our branch into Knox and Licking Cos of Ohio used LARASON.But all these probably go went back to NJ sooner or later.
And don't get too hung up on that John the Dane baloney. The uprising that he supposedly fled Denmark over happened in the 1660's, while I have seen New Amsterdam records that seem to put him there in the late 1650's.I think the jury is still out on that story.
