Re: Descendants De Sales Laterrière 1766-2002 Albi-Quebec
I am a descendent of the first of the De Sales La Terriere's to settle in Ireland. The first La Terrieres came to Ireland during the end of the English administration here (he was a pilot during World War 1 but seems to have left the army under strange circumstances) and settled in Kiltinan Castle, Tipperary. He married a well known Tipperary horsewoman.
His sister Mimi, who had a very strange and unhappy life also settled for a time in Ireland after her unsuccessful marriages to her cousin (also a La Terriere) and then Sir John Gray. Most of our European family, actually, are Scottish and not Irish. There is really only a small and disparate branch left in Ireland now.
