Larry,
Due to the new DNA results information from Richard Zeutenhorst, I have removed Ozeme LaTour from Homere Alexis LaTour son of Pierre Grasset LaTour. I still have Ozeme LaTour in my file but only under Homere LaTour (not connect to anyone) and Helene Richard (not connected to anyone). It appears much more research is needed on the parents of Ozeme LaTour and their ancestors.
I would like to see other LaTour's participate in a DNA study. I note there are four members on FTDNA but one is not allowed any access to their test results.

*The information that Ozeme LaTour was the son of Homere Latour is from descendants. They state Helene Richard was an ex-slave of unknown origin. Additionally, the DNA of Clarence L. LaTour identifies his DNA as originating in France. However, the latest news from Richard Zeutenhorst shows Ozeme LaTour is not of the same line of Pierre Grasset LaTour.

I read your correspondence with great interest, particularly with regard to the Y-DNA results. We tested the Y-DNA of a male relative in my wife's LaTour family last year in hopes of connecting with a Grasset family in France. Based on different haplogroup results, it would seem that my wife's family is not related to your family (i.e., no common ancestor). We had expected to see haplogroup R1b like you have, but were surprised to learn that her family is haplogroup G2a. I should probably consider having another relative tested, in the event there was a lab error. If I can find another volunteer, I will let you know of the results.
I can say that when the tests work, they are amazing.I had my Y-DNA tested to compare with that of the father of my fifth cousin in the Netherlands. Our Dutch records are quite good so we knew our most recent common ancestor was 5 generations ago. Of course, we were the same haplogroup, but more importantly we differed on only one of the 48 markers tested, just as predicted. When more Latour test results become available, we should see the same close results.
Best wishes,
Richard Zeutenhorst
