Horace Latraverse, 1897, Woonsocket, RI
Hello my name is Glenn, and my grandfather was Horace Latraverse. I know very little about him, or my Latraverse ancestors.
My mother has done some research, and we believe that our branch of Latraverse's descends from the Hus-Latraverse or Latraverse-Hus line from Jean-Baptiste Antoine Hus-Latraverse & Marie-Therese Niquet. J-Bte was the son of Paul Hus. So while we believe this to be the case - I need to find the link between my family and the descendants of Paul Hus.
This is what I do know:
My grandfather, Horace Latraverse was born in 1897 in Woonsocket, RI. He was also baptized there. We suspect he was baptized at Precious Blood parish in the Bernon section of Woonsocket. He married Mary Pontbriand of Manville, RI and they were married there in 1927. He had one daughter, my mother, Lorraine (Latraverse) Dupont. He died in 1980... and was laid to rest in St. James Catholic Cemetary in Manville, RI.
I know very little about my great-grandfather, Narcisse Latraverse. We believe he was born in the Bernon Section of Woonsocket and a communicant of Precious Blood Parish. We believe he married my great-grandmother, Rose Anna Labossiere there sometime before the turn of the century.
Narcisse had at LEAST one brother named Maurice Latraverse. Maurice had a son Joseph Latraverse also of Woonsocket. Joseph married Lillian Boutiette... they had no children.
Maurice had two daughters, Marie (Latraverse) Blais and Olivine (Latraverse) D'Avignon. Marie had no children, but Olivine had a son, Victor D'Avignon who was married to Madeleine Savoie.
At some point Narcisse moved his family to Fall River, MA. He was working as a painter in 1906/1907 when he met his untimely end. He was painting the wooden trim of an old greystone mill there when the scaffolding let go, and he fell to his death.
After his death, his wife, Rose Anna Labossiere, moved back to Woonsocket, RI. Rose Anna remarried 3 times after Narcisse's death. She married a Labossiere (her first cousin) in Woonsocket who died shortly thereafter (within a year or so). They had a daughter named Rose Anna Labossiere.
She then went to live in Canada (presumably Quebec). Her 3rd Husband had the last name Paulhus. She was widowed for the 3rd time, without having any children by him. Her 4th and last husband was named Champagne (also in Canada). She had one son with him named Pierre Champagne.
That's all the information I have at the moment. I know it's very basic, but I thought I would share it with you with the hopes that some of you might recognize a name. I suspect that Narcisse and Maurice were both sons of Pierre Hus-Latraverse and Marguerite Dellard who were married 16 FEB 1841 in St-Pierre-de-Sorel, Richelieu, Quebec, Canada. But I have not found a listing of Pierre's children yet. There were several Pierre Hus-Latraverse's... and the one I believe was my great-great-grandfather was the son of Joseph Hus-Latraverse & Catherine Masse.
If anyone has any info on Latraverse's from Woonsocket or Fall River, MA or any info on sons of Pierre Hus-Latraverse (husband of Marguerite Dellard), please let me know.
Thank you all for your time and assistance. It's greatly appreciated.
